​WHY BECOME A READY MIXED CONCRETE DRIVER?
The ready mixed concrete industry is over 60 years old and many people have been with their employers for 20, 30, and even 40 years.

Pay in the concrete industry is very competitive. Every person is trained before they start to work. Because of this extensive eduction, the ready mixed concrete industry is one of the safest places to work. 

There are many opportunities for advancement in the industry, including management. More and more women are joining the concrete industry work force in all areas. Full time day shift schedules, health insurance plans, paid vacations, safety bonuses, and retirement plans are some of the benefits offered in our industry. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Drives truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
  • Inspects the truck from a checklist at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Checkoff Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
  • Climbs the ladder, approximately 10-12 feet, on the mixer truck to view the load of concrete for consistency and amount, to inspect the drum for cleanliness.
  • Adjusts the trailer axle pressure depending on the weight of the load.
  • Assembles concrete chute(s) weighing 50 pounds each.
  • Cleans truck after loading and after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation requirements including but not limited to licensing, vehicle inspection, and hours of service.
  • Understands that attendance and punctuality are required each day of work.
  • Jackhammers concrete from the mixer drum to prevent excessive build up of concrete in drum.
  • Run extra equipment and perform extra duties as assigned when necessary.
  • Assist in filling forms for pre-cast operations.

​GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to obtain a class B commercial drivers license. Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and drug screen
  • Must pass criminal background check and MVR check
