IRMCA Annual Convention

​The Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s 71st Annual Convention welcomed over 260 attendees at the Graduate Iowa City, on March 1-3, 2020.

Sunday Evening kicked off the three-day event with a Past President’s Leadership Reception, Exhibitor Showcase and the Schist Kicker Rock Race.

​​Monday featured learning break-out sessions throughout the day and special luncheon entertainment, comedian, Tim Harmston. That evening, the Convention’s annual banquet also served as an opportunity to recognize some of the state’s top construction and engineering students through the presentation of 21 IRMCA academic scholarships for 2020 as well as one Jerry Woods Scholarship. Through the awarding of scholarships, the IRMCA hopes to recognize the best and brightest of our state’s students and encourage them to consider careers in Iowa’s concrete paving industry. This year’s scholarship recipients are:

2020 Scholarship Press Release

​The evening ended with the annual Auction, raising money for the IRMCA Scholarship fund. This year we were able to raise over $44,000.00!

​The Convention concluded on Tuesday morning with the presentation of EIC Winners & Safety Winners, Annual Business Meeting and the election of Harold Busta, Croell, Inc., as the 2020 President. 

The event’s thirty-four sponsors and nine exhibitors truly made this year’s event a success. In addition, the event would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of the association’s Event committee and the many speakers who volunteered their time and expertise. Through its many educational sessions, the three-day Iowa Convention featured presentations focused on Insulated Concrete Forms, Safety, Truckers against Trafficking, Workforce, Super Air Meter & Trails.
